I am going to be mounting a large external trans cooler soon, and I usually mount them to radiators for airflow at low speeds/heavy traffic.
Do you think there would be an advantage to mounting a trans cooler in front of the intercooler, and having a large puller fan behind the intercooler, with it's own seperate temp sensor/relay? I could set the sensor at any temp I want, any suggestions on a good set point?
I hate teh idea of hot soak in heavy traffic, and the flow from the intercooler fan would surely help out with radiator cooling too.

Regards, Andrew.

You wouldn't really need a t-stat for the fan, just a toggle switch for when you want it to run. I'd personally put the tranny cooler in between the radiator and IC.

Dont mount an oil cooler on your intercooler that shit gets HOT. I had a standard tube/fin style oil cooler mounted on the front of my IC before and the intercooler did a good job of soaking up allot of that heat. I have since gotten rid of that and mounted a B&M under the driverside headlight w/ a thermostat like the one your talking about.

Is this motor oil going into the cooler or tranny fluid?
edit, im illiterate, if its an auto you want your fluid to stay ~180 F stay away from temps above 200. Mine has a relay that kicks on a fan at 170F and stops cuts off the fan when it reaches 150F

If your going to mount it by the IC put it behind it but not mounted directly to it.
