:1zhelp:My accordion hose intake was mangled when I purchased my 87. I just had the engine swapped with another 7mge. I added pacesetter headers, and the stupid universal flex intake hose (soon to be replaced). The stock exhaust manifold heat shield didn't come close to fitting. What I want is a jacket to put around the intake because it is hot to the touch. The most similar thing in idea would be the turbo blanket found here: http://www.mvpmotorsports.com/Templates/frmTemplateM7.asp?SubFolderID=485&SearchYN=N I have been unable to find anything on the forums or from google, other than what looks to be very thin intake wrap. If the only route to get what I want is to fabricate, can someone tell me what type of materials I should use and what materials I should definitely stay away from? Thanks!:1zhelp:

Best be would probably be exhaust heat wrap and wrap the header. http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/partdetails/DEI/Exhaust/Exhaust_Wraps//12665.

I could be wrong but I think the heat the intake dissipates is more that what it takes in from ambient air. So wrapping it would cause the opposite effect of what you want. Wrapping the headers will keep the heat in them and help keep the heat from the engine bay though to so that should be your main concern.

I had already thought of that. Problem with that is, it voids most headers warranties. I guess I could give a shot since I already had to shave part of the flange on the headers to go around the water pump.

They make heat shields, check Summit they have them,. They also make thinner material that is self sticking.

Usually wrapping headers will cause them to rust if they are not coated. I've had my Pacesetter headers about 10 years now not wrapped or coated.
