an aftermarket IC on stock boost levels is not going to get you much of anything. If you're running say an aftermarket turbo, or the stock turbo much past stock boost levels, then a new IC would probably be a good idea.
An aftermarket one is more efficient. It will create cooler air going into your cylinders. You can get an intercooler and piping kit for probably $300 off ebay. Plus an aftermarket one looks sweeter chillin behind the bumper. Just my 2 cents though.
Ic is not a big need at first it will cool the ct 26's charge so when you upgrade the turbo your charge is actually cooler due to the bigger turbo making the same boost that your stock turbo did but doing it with less work
May also be worthwhile to note the condition of the stock IC... if the cooling fins have been beaten to hell by rocks, it might not be a bad idea to replace it. If it's in good shape, refer to above.
It becomes a big to-do once you start increasing boost past the smaller piping in the stock IC's critical velocity level. IIRC the stock piping is what, 2"?
