There was a great writeup on pulling the engine... more of a check list perhaps. I'll see if I can find it... just don't remember anything specific to the title.

unhook the battery first, then just unhook everything that is holding it in. i know thats kind of a simple way to put it, but really thats all there is to it. when you get the chains from you hoist on the motor anything you forgot to unhook will be pretty obvious. just remember if it doesnt come out fairly easy dont force it, there is probally something still attached. also if you leave the tranny attached to the motor when pulling it out you will have to pry a little as the tranny will catch against the firewall.

if you snaching the engine Things that can be tricky and hold the motor when you hoist it are the tranny lines if its and Auto, the fuel lines can be difficult, and if you are snaching it with the tranny staying in the car the two bolts on top of the bell housing are a BITCH. It is much eaiser to take the motor out while still attached to the transmission.

lol, get a 4 ft. extension(or enough extensions to reach 4 ft.), and a wiggler adapter. Let the back of the tranny down a little, and those 2 top bolts are easy to get to.

Can it be done on your own? Sure. Best bet is to get some one with some knowledge on cars and help you out. I definitely recommend pulling the transmission and the engine out together. The fun part is reconnecting everything and seeing what it is you forgot to hook up. For me it was a single ground wire under the engine (that was not funny, though I laugh now that I think about it). Good luck.

I pulled the engine by myself in two days. That is with no prior experience. The key is making sure you know what your doing, but not holding back too much. It really isnt too hard at all and you should have no trouble doing it.

Day 1: Drain and unhook everything. http://www.whistlehog.com/data/engine.html I used the MS-Word document form printed off becasue it has a useful checklist.
Day 2: Using a borrowed hoist with a purcashed load leveller, I carefully pulled the tranny and motor. I had my brother hold the tranny while I moved the hoist away from the car.

Of course there are many ways to do it and a recommended way. Keep in mind at all times your main objective and do what you think is right based on your own research. Good luck to you.
