i tried searching through the threads before i put this up and couldnt find any thing.

but i was wondering how can you tell the difference in a w58 and a r154? is it just the w58 is the non turbo 5 speed and the r154 is the turbo five speed? if so thats all i need to know so i know what clutch to buy when i get it.

i have a 5 speed out of a 1987 turbo and i just want to make sure it is a r154. thanks guys any info you have would be awesome.

W58:
has the bell housing without inspection covers
the clutch slave pushrod and clutch fork is outside the transmission
front half of the driveshaft (goes into transmission) is one size unlike the r154

R154:
bulkier transmission than the W58
clutch fork and slave pushrod is located within the bellhousing visible thru the inspection plate
driveshaft looks a bit longer than the W58 and varies in size (front half)

those are the only differences i know, someone chime in and correct me if i am wrong
