How to make a set of 1989+ motor mounts:

http://www.whistlehog.com/data/balkampmm.jpg

Parts: motor mounts for mid 90s maxda/ford pick-up with 4 cyl (NAPA
602-1686). 7/16" mag wheel lug nuts (Dorman 711-108 or equivalent), 12 X
1.75 mm tap, 11/16" and 7/16" drill bits, Here is the proceedure:

1. Drill out the aluminum bracket to 11/16" (the 1 hole the mount stud goes
through).

2. Buy a set of 7/16" mag wheel lug nuts, drill out the threads just enough
to take off the tops of the threads, then retap the nuts to 12 X 1.75 mm.
The nut will go through the bracket just like on a mag wheel. Nobody makes a
mag nut in 12 X 1.75, at least not that I could find, and only Ford uses
this thread on some of their trucks.

3. Trim the top side pin so it will go into the bracket, and remove the
bottom pin, I used a cut-off tool.

4. Buy 2 12 X 1.75 strut mount nuts (self-locking) and 1/2" washers for the
bottom stud.'

This was posted on the Supra mailing list a while back, and needs to be documented. Thanks

(shaeff edit: the reason for doing this is because the OEM liquid filled ones are roughly $120 each)
