Ok everyone, thanks to your help over the past few post's i am moving right along. But now i am curious how to get the head in time with the block. I am close to this point and my 7m-ge needs to have the head put on the block on the stand and get it all in time. I believe i have to align the hashmarks and put piston 1 in Top Dead Center. Is this correct? And tips or tricks i should know? Thank you again!!

Actualy the head and block are not timed. You just have dowel pins to line up. As for timing the valve train, 1 is TDC, and the cam marks are straight up to match the notch on the back cover. Also, put the slack of the timing belt at the tension and tight the rest of the way around the srockets. Release the tensioner and turn the crank two turns to make sure the notches on the back cover still match to the cam sprocket.
