Can you use hose ends with the clamps integrated into them on SS braid hose when hooking up an oil cooler since both the cooler and remote oil thermostat have hose barb fittings that come with them. My greddy oil filter relocation kit uses these style fitting and has no problems but I was curious if anyone else has used these on a full oil cooler system, since most people here swear by the socket style fittings instead.

Another question, is the 1/2 npt fittings with hose barb that come with the oil coolers compatible with -8 hose or would i need a 1/2npt to -8 hose barb fitting to replace them.

Not speaking from experience, I would say the clamped fittings would leak long before threaded ones will, also clamped will loosen up over time much more/faster then threaded ones will... I have to imagine they weigh more as well.

Thanks for the response. The hose clamp style actually weigh much less, not that the weight would even be noticable. I just thought it might be worth a shot and seems much simpler (and cheaper) than using all AN socket fitting.

For anyone who doesnt know what I'm talking about, its these ones.

you want to use those in the link? all they are is a standard worm clamp with a fancy cover, I use just regular worm clamps on pretty much everything including my oil cooler. i dont see really how it could matter as long as the clamp does its job and doesn't leak:dunno:

Exactly what I was thinking, but all the threads I search, members are like, "if you cheap out and dont do stainless with AN fittings its gonna leak out and blow up your motor. Do you just run tranny oil cooler line then?

no i am using high psi rated fuel line i think right now (rated like 120psi or something) i havent had any problems but it is something i might redo with SS lines when i find some money

AN fittings? screw that! unless you are building a total race car that is over the top.... Toyota used the crappy spring clamps and rubber hose from the factory, and there are cars with 200,000 miles on them with that crap still not leaking. I think tranny lines would definitely be fine

For reference, the transmission oil cooler hose at napa is rated at 200 psi and 275 F constant 300 F intermittent. This hose with some t bolt clamps would probably be more than enough for an oil cooler setup.
