Hi everyone Im new to the mkiii craze and I love it. However I have lots of problems with my car from a previous owner. Thanks to the guys here thats been replying to my threads . Im installing a 7mgte into a previously swapped 7mgte by a person who should have never touched it at all but shit happens right? I'm in the process of swapping parts, installing new clutch, bov, new autometer oil guage, and getting her done the right way. Anyhow I have lots of questions and feel stupid to be asking sort of hehe :slap: but here goes:

1. On the wiring harness behind the glovebox there is a brown /w white stripe
wire with a male connector on it. Does anyone know what this is or where
it goes? Also Theres a yellow plug with two wires; aqua green with red
stripe and blue with white stripe...any clue to where this sucker goes?

2. On the block where it says " 7M and then a series of #'s; what is the little
spherical thing there above the series of numbers? I have my engines next
to each other and was comparing the two while swapping parts over to
the new engine.

3. After removing a cut harness that came with the new engine, my question
is how hard is it to reinstall a harness to the motor as far as how the
factory would do it?

There will more likely be questions in the future due to the fact I'll be doing most of the work myself as my trust meter is not too high with the previous work done. Thanks for all the help Oh by the way, has anyone every heard the term soapra? strictly jdm here folks. :biggrinbo

Welcome to SM arguably the best Mk3 site!

Do you mean "Soarpra"?

Soarer front panels on a Supra?

If so yeah there are a few here on SM that look great!
(really unique look about them)
The rest will be answered in turn as the guys log in!

Yep that's the one Soarer from the windscreen forward looks way cool!

There's a Black/maybe Dark Blue one here with Gold wheels on SM!

Dunno about uploading pics I host mine on my own webspace, I assume for here they have to be a certain size then you just browse to the folder on your HDD.

nope the black one is from a guy here.
and i can answer #3 sort of as i have replaced a lot of old cracked and brittle connectors on my car. wiring isn't that hard really. Just keep this in mind, DRAW(diagrams), MEMORIZE, and most important Be pacient(sp?). always label the harness as well as you can this will help you so Much its not funny. it is kind of a PIA to mess with the dash to get everything corrected. but with time you can do it Factory Standards or better. and i think someone posted this before but have a fire extenguisher on site before turning her on for the first time.

1) pics or at least the year of your car...unless you said it and i missed it
2) again pics... ;)
3) its pretty simple...for the most part removing the TB will allow enough room to completely install the harness on the engine...

on a side note...what are you going to do with the jdm cut harness you took off? if you would like to sell it let me know...i could use one... thanks!

Grim - My car is an 89. But the first time the 7mgte was swapped in my car; I'm not sure what year the harness or engine is from unfortunately.

Ideal - I will take your advic on removing the TB. Should I install the wiring harness on the engine while it is out of the car or while it's in the car? Also Sure i'll sell it to you, or perhaps trade for something maybe you don't use? Make me an offer $. Or possible trade. I will be more than happy to make a deal. Thanks

ok, so its the oil pressure switch? On my old engine the spherical thing is on it. However, on the engine I plan on putting in it doesn't have the spherical object on it; just little metal rod looking thing. Does anyone know how this thing comes off? I will try and have pics soon for my other questions, but I have no camera, just a pc camera.

if u remove ur oilfilter elbow there is a locating stud that protrudes from the block, thats is more in the middle of the block though like cyl 3,4,5 are.behind the water pump and to the right of the oil pressure switch is a bolt that blocks off the oil journal at the front of the block, the left of the pressureswitch is the 17mm oil feeder for the turbo.when i was rebuilding my motor i got confused with all these holes that dont get plugged up until the end.

Ok, does anyone know if it will cause negative effects to the engine if the spherical thing is not on there? By not on there, I mean there's still like metal thing protruding there. Anyone know how to remove it?

I also discovered a couple of things I had questions about...

1. On the 02 Sensor that connects to the turbo elbow, the previous owner spliced into the blue wire (3 wires total; 2 black, 1 blue). What could be a possible reason for this? It also seems that the blue wire didnt run back into the connecter itself. What effects is this causing?

2. This unit was mounted on the fender cowl passenger side. R07-100-RNTA http://american.usa.norgren.com/usaview/Resources/usaview/0000008001/8047.PDF
This was not hooked up but according to the manufac specs, it relieves pressure. My question is what uses this would have as far being used by a spura?

3. Please help does anyone know what this pipe goes to? On one end it has a banjo type and the other has a nipple for a hose I figure. Any clues?

Sorry the pics aren't professional as they were taken by my pc cam. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I know it's a O2 sensor that goes on the turbo elbow (exhaust side). As far as what harm it does off I'm not sure, but I think it would have something to do with A/F maybe?

Does anyone know what the blue wire does on an 02 sensor for the elbow?
