Hmm, Oil problems and Blown Headgasket, any ideas?

we used an expander but when we bought the pistons they came in a box together with just some plastic wrapped around them. We had to file some of the knicks out and the seller wouldnt do anything about it and wouldnt even discount em. Im guessing that we could of missed one of the knicks but im pretty sure we checked all the grooves. who knows....

as I remember just a little but I think it was more of our compressor that wasnt holding very well. They all went in and moved nicely
yea id like to know too. The rebuild has about 1500 miles on it and it didnt start smoking till 1000 miles and it actually ran great the whole time till the BHG came.

but how would detonation cause the oil ring to screw up? I thought itd cause a compression ring or some other of that sort?

It wouldn't hurt the Oil ring I think that may have happened after the compression ring broke

The compression rings didnt break tho. just the top oil ring, then that melted the piston around the 2nd compression ring.

It just doesn't make sense to do all that work halfassed when to do it right isn't really anymore work and not that much more expensive.

actually itd probably cost less to do it with the other engine...since I dont have to buy rings and another piston...
Guess it all depends on if you're going to keep the car or not!
