High stall torque converter for a daily?

Hey everyone.

I'm having my a340e tranny built by a pro shop next week, and I'm on the fence between getting a torque converter with a higher stall...or not.

My target....within the next year is to be at 400whp (currently about 340-350 with mods). This is a daily driver, not a racer...and I just want to make sure that getting a converter with a higher stall isn't going to effect my daily commute etc etc.

The guy at the shop says he can adjust the stall anywhere from a 500rpm increase to a 5krpm increase.

Any feedback/suggestions would be great.

i have not for the life of me been able to find performance parts for the a340e. where are you guys finding them?

Performance Transmission Shops...from what I've learned...have their own suppliers...so probably through a transmission shop.

There is also IPT online at this address:http://www.importperformancetrans.com/index.php?l=product_list&c=174

I ran a 2800 in mine and being a lock up converter there are none of the downsides of a normal highstall.

So...IJ...is there a downside to having a non lock up converter....should I be asking this shop if the converter is a lock up if I go high stall?

I'm still learning a lot about Torque Converters...any teaching is awesome...thanks!

I come from a land down under
Downsides are they slip, slip and slip some more.....

Depending on diff gears you might find yourself cruising along on the highway slipping it's brains out, very annoying and costs in fuel.

Lockup fixes all of that stupidity but there is a limit to how much power the lockup can handle.

it would just be like driving a normal auto which most stock cars have a 2-2.5k stall converter. But instead of the rpms sitting around 2-2.5k it will be 4k. you probably wont see 4k one a 4k stall cause you need to have the power to spin it that high

All good information to double check with the shop...thanks!
