I have two bikes im looking at. I primarily ride to work, bout 20 miles each way. on the weekends though i like to go out and do a little twisties, nothing too crazy. Im a heavier rider, i tip the scales at 200. I used to have a 99 r6 for about 8 months and loved that although it got a little slow twards the end and sold it durring the winter season. So here are my two bike choces

1: 2001 TL1000R, 15k miles negotiated price of 3700. only damage is it's missing the battery cover. bright yellow, all original. needs a tuneup.

2 2000 R6 16k price is currently at 3800 but i THINK i could get him to 3500 laid down on both sides, but damage is purely cosmetic and really not TOO bad. red/white. All stock.

now you know about me, and my riding style..

What do you suggest?

I offered him 3k. he wouldent take it and i walked at 3250. he was still at 3800. a few others have suggested the TLR and i've never owned a v-twin.. thats why it kind of excites me.

The TL is a lot of bike with a lot of low end torque. Still a nice bike though.

ever ridden one? I'd love to have a first hand review.

i think torque will be nice, since it will be used mainly for commuting. and the r is still suposed to have more top end then the s. I really cant wait to put a set of cans on a v-twin... those sound soooo nasty ;)

as I'm sure you know, an R6 isn't a particularly good choice for a commuter, rev monsters are great for when you wanna go play, not so great for when you're stuck in traffic.

I haven't ridden a TLR1000, but from my experience with Ducati's and SV's, SV in particular is just always fun to ride, I could step off a GSXR1000/R1 and onto an SV650 and still have an absolute blast, even in heavy traffic you're less likely to be super frustrated.

I have, I cant remember what kind, but it had a full exhaust a power commander type deal, and soem other little stuff, that thing was wicked. Too much bike for me at the time, but I'm sure you would get used to it. Kind of heavy also (compared to something like a CBR/R6) May want to check on the price of insurance for both, as that could be another determining factor for ya. :icon_bigg
