i just finished up a head gasket job yesterday, even after fixing a code 51 i still have a wierd hard starting, it sounds like like cranking with kinda random pausing, its even clashed with flex plate while starting a couple times. once it does start it wont stay running and has a choppy idle. i checked timing earlier with the cam gears pointing at 12 the crank looks to be sitting at maybe 4 degrees but i dont see a mark to say whats tdc 0 degrees. can anyone shed some light on this?

I dont get how you can see the crank is at 4*, but cant find tdc, so here you go.
Your cam timing is off. crank needs to be at 0* its not hard to find.

thats what im talking about, i turned everything by hand to line up, both cams point at 12, the crank mark is almost between 5* and 0* after starting it. i dont know if that would keep it from idling, even holding it above idle it wont stay at a steady rpm. i noticed i had a fuel leak earlier and pulled the efi fuse and it sounds normal when i cranked it over i dont know if that would add any more detail to this, im running out of ideas

i got the distributor timed to the crank but the cams were off a few to many degrees. i didnt think to recheck the cams after putting the belt on and rotating everything. supra owner error
