haha yeah, I'm gonna pass on that too. But it was interesting to see poeple who didn't know who Nancy Pelosi was, who couldn't recite the Pledge of Allegiance and who generally just don't know what's going on

whos nancy pelosi?

edit: first woman speaker of the house.

maybe its because i am young, but so far what i have realized is i dont give a shit about playing other peoples games. be it other friends head games or feeding their ego trips, to participating in a government designed to only give the illusion that the people are running it.

so far im living my life just fine without getting all worked up about politics.

^Young or not, it JUST happened. It was in the news, yet people still didn't know. Which suggests that people don't CARE to know what's going in, which will lead to the loss of our Republic eventually and you may find later on down the road, you won't be living your life just fine when you have no rights.

Mods: I'm pretty sure this belongs in the political section... if one of you can warp it over there that'd be awesome, and sorry for the inconvenience :)

and you are absolutely right. the problem i see however is that at the present we have no control and there is probably nothing any of us can do to stop the loss of our rights.

the cause? the design of the government, and the majority of the US population is (in my not so humble opinion) comprised of complete and utter idiots.

the solution? stay low key is all i can think of...

Nah, this is the time to stand out. Our government (at least to me) seems to be drifting away from the constitution and that's a pretty scary thing. If no one says anything when we have the chance... no one is going to be able to say anything later down the line because we won't have the ability.

We very much can change things by not voting for Republicans and Democrats who can't seem to get past pastisan bickering and bullshit to actually be able to get something done.

Very true SD. Lagged, when you are seeing things drifting away, its because people are not stepping up (and also are complete and utter idiots lol). Now, we need the morons who don't know shit to stay low key and people like you who can actually see the problem thats developing to start stepping up and doing what they can, which actually is more than you might think. There are plenty of things our gov't provides for that are not/under-utilized and can be used to turn things around. Really, we need to catch it earlier. Its not a huge problem now, but its def developing. Not to mention our nation is focusing and debating over non-issues like gay rights and not over *important* issues like the fact that other nations are poised to bound ahead of our economy in just a few decades.... People need to step up to the plate-now!

The reason people can't recite the pledge of allegiance is because someone was offended that they had to say "under God" in school. Apparently it violated their rights, so NOBODY would say the pledge in school anymore. If you didn't want to say the pledge, you didn't have to, and over the years, the number of people who didn't say it increased. I'm not a religious person, but I say that damn pledge, and it's important to me that I do.
I don't know if this is how it's done now, but when I was in school, from K-12, you stood and gave the Pledge of Allegiance every morning before class started for the day. I have moved around during all of those years, and I attended many different schools, and it was all the same.
People are too busy being offended to pledge their allegiance to anyone or anything but themselves. I agree, it is sickening. Years and years of beautiful tradition, pledging your allegiance to the flag that symbolizes life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, thrown down the drain.
