Guess this engine failure

1999 Bonneville 3.8. Normal old people driving when this noise started.
Lost of smoke coming out of the oil cap. I'm convinced it's something with the valvetrain but i'd love to hear your thoughts on what you think it might be:aigo:

Sounds like it might be a cylinder that isn't firing (going on 5 instead of all 6) to me. I know this generation of GM v6 engines has a reputation for intake manifold gaskets as well. The OBDII reading giving off any useful codes? I promise you'll find meaningful info SOMEWHERE online given that there were a LOT of cars with this engine.

I'd say find the codes, and check up on a good Camaro forum.
