I'm guessing this is compatible with the 7mge and 7mgte maf sensors. I don't know much of anything about MAF Translation but this looks very simple and Interesting. It looks to simply convert the signal from the Stock AFM Connector to the LS-1 AFM... easy and simply without any tuning required. If anyone knows anything about this, Please, Fill me and Everyone else in!

THANKS

I know but this one has not been covered. It's not the MAFT Pro that requires alot more work than this possibly simpler solution.

I don't know if the MAF-T is compatible with the GE's electronics. If I had to guess I'd say no, as they only just got the MAFT Pro working with GE support. Your best bet would be asking TurboBob, he's a very busy guy though. Dr.Jonez might know if it's compatible.

Anyone know about any free or Very cheap mods that can be done to the 7mge, like the coolant temp sensor mod... etc.. that ive heard of?

there is no such thing as "cheap" performance. your best bet is to catch up on maintenance....and then do the "normal" progression- intake, exhaust, etc.

coolant temp "mod" will get you little to nothing...aside from less gas mileage.

your best bet is to enjoy your car as is....there's little to be done to increase performance.

I wish someone or some company just made replacement high performance air flow meters for these cars.

why? you're not going to gain anything.

Exactly what the doc said.

If you skip needed maintenance and go for the pipe and the air intake it's going to cost twice as much as it will if you fix it first. It just never stops amazing me how people want to go fast with out putting the time in under the hood. If this was doable..., we would all have turbonators. HA

You would gain a little getting rid of the restriction at the afm, as why people spend a shit load of cash on the maft-pro, But IT WOULD BE NICE TO JUST HAVE A CHEAPER EASIER ALTERNATIVE.

dude, ive got a rebuilt engine that i put together myself with around 4,000 miles and every damn part u can think of is new, So i'm looking for more cheap power... If i can't find it, then i'm gonna leave the car how it is, after all i love driving my supra, even know it could use more power.

The most you can do is make sure it's breathing as easily as possible. Port and polished intake and exhaust mani's and P&P the head. Tweak the timing a bit. Good spark plug wires and spark plugs, possibly a capacitive ignition coil.

Beyond that you're looking at spending a fair amount of money.

maybe the alternative you seek chris is an MSD dist cap and MSD wires, new plugs air filter and a blaster coil. I like the LS-1 maf pro hook up but it's pricey even more so than a new walbro fuel pump and blaster coil combo.

well i have a blaster coil and msd sci igniton.. etc.. new wires plugs etc. Does the maf pro make the intake louder since it's allowing more air to flow freely into the engine? Just curious.

i called HPF and asked them about the MAFT being compatible with the GE, and they said its mainly used in turbo applications so that the BOV can vent to atmosphere without causing a rich condition. They said if you want to just get rid of your afm in place of a larger one such as the LS1 maf then you can use this MAFT which is compatible and it also gives you somewhat more of a tuning possibility. flame if you want im just relaying what i found out

Errr, which MAFT is "this MAFT"?

As for the sound. Naturally, it's louder. The whole intake track is open, there's no tiny 1.5" x 2" bottleneck with a trap door. It's loud, but it's not horrible... I'm not a fan of loud cars. Mine is loud, but it's plenty tolerable. Of course, with my air filter all the way up under the passenger headlight it's probably quieter than if it were under the hood (at least when you're in the cabin). If you like the added sound, I think you'd be pleased. If you don't want more noise move the air filter under the headlight and keep the resonator in place.

you're not going to gain a whole lot by removing the AFM on an N/A car. that is absolutely NOT the reason i switched to the MAFTpro, but it was a benefit. (but nowhere near a deciding factor)

whats the source then??? cuz ill gladly call them and discuss this becuase im sure if it works then most of the na guys would consider it a better alternative then going the whole MAFT pro route and the MAFT that im talking about is the one pictured on there website it plugs into our AFM plug for the wiring haqrness and then you can plug any gm maf into it. it then changes the maf signal to an afm one i guess is how its supposed to work
