Looks, and so you don't scrape the fuck out of your real bumper...I think thats about it. Most people don't have one, or they just get an after market one. Trying to find a lip that isn't fucked all to hell is pretty hard.

any way the wind blows
I had a straight lip once.
Realized how awesome I was when I saw other Supras with the stock original lip.
Another member on here has it now though.

Stock bumper without the front lip looks naked and that is missing.

Went aftermarket, was too low. (H&R springs as it is)

As of right now, GRacer :)

aerodynamics and looks...

Also, if your lip is warped is more than likely because the bar it mount to is warped to hell. Gotta remove it and straighten it (not easy to get it perfectly straight). Then the lip needs to be unwarped (careful use of a heatgun works).

Never had a lip for mine. I keep thinking that as ghetto as my car is already I'll just add a vinyl cove base lip.

How on Earth would a lip reduce dirt in the engine bay?

It helps to lower drag by limiting air underneath the car and by deflecting air around the tires.

It doesn't really do all that much but it's definitely better to have one than to have a big gap from your bumper to the ground, which will introduce more drag from the front tires.

Just to clear something up, is the lip fitted to my new car that 'JDM' one you speak of?

I found a write up that Facime did when I had my last Supra. He made his own front lip out of a few home depot materials. It turned out pretty good. Just search Bumper Home Depot Fix.
