Found a W-series transmission

Can anyone help me identify this transmission. Found it at school and would love to swap parts. The center section is cast iron rather than the Supra's aluminium. See if you can see whats wrong with it also

Well, what's wrong with it is fairly obvious, there's not much left of the gears on the left in those pics...

I believe it is a W57 as 5th gear ratio looks to be different. Ill be taking measurements on Monday.

Some of the gears and bearings are slightly wider. Reverse most noticeably. The center plate has the same dimensions though. I will be using the oil baffle, center plate, reverse shift fork and other little bits. If you want to do a W swap this is the one to get.

im thinking its either a w55 or w56 from a 2wd toyota truck, or maybe even a celica.

I believe it's from a 83-85 Celica gts

looking at the connector its seems 89+ style. Possibly IS300 W55?

Bioskyline got it right. Just did a clutch on a 92 toyota pickup 2WD and everything was identical.

I've had two w58 transmissions- one from a pre 89 Supra, and one from an 89-92 model. I can't remember which came from which, but one had a cast iron center, other had an aluminum center.

89+ was steel.

I would prefer a steel 89+ center section.

So far i have about 300 miles on this transmission. The more i drive it the smoother it shifts!

I did not use the 5th and reverse shift fork.

Ofcourse, as you wear everything in, it will run smoother.

My R154, supposedly a notchy gearbox, shifts perfectly fine before I rebuilt it and after rebuilding, it was smooth. Now that I have close to a 1000 miles on it, it's even better. I shifted gears with a two fingers when I first started driving, now, it barely take any effort.
