Flex-a-lite wiring

Ok I installed my fluidyne radiator and flex-a-lite electric fans the other day. I did not get the control box, but this is how I tried to wire it. I ran the negative wire of the fans to the same ground as the battery. Reading from the SOGI write-ups, I tried tapping the positive end into the yellow wire coming from the solenoid resistor. When I started it up, the fans ran slowly, and the engine had a lumpy idle. Then I disconnected the positive end for the fans, so it was back to normal, and it ran fine. But when I touched the positive of the fans to this yellow wire, my problem would reoccur. How do I need to hook up the positive end of the fans? Slightly baffled here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Wire them to a ignition switched source. If you want you can tap into the black/orange wire coming off the ignition under the dash.

After several wiring mishaps of blown fuses, burned wires & 2 or 3 control boxes within the 1st yr with my FAL 210.s I wired mine into the stock condenser fans wiring. I also wired in a control switch as specd. in the SOGI mod so I could turn them on at will or when the operating temps went up they would spin on there own. Ran them like that w/o any problem. 4 yrs later rubber insalator deterated & fell loose into one of the fans & locked the fan motor up.

I'm looking to wire it up somewhere in the engine bay. I had thought about wiring them to the stock electric fan wiring, but there isn't much room to cut and splice. Now if I did this, would the fans come on with temperature like the stock one?

Mine are wired directly to the battery, on a relay to a keyed source.

I can't seem to find a quality relay that can handle the constant use of the fan, they always seem to fail every few months. I need to find something OEM that can take the heat.

Schiffer- No need to. I just cut off the connectors from the small elec. fans I removed from the rad to install the fals & pluged them in. After the Fan motor gave out & I went back to the stock set up I just replaced the connectors. & Yes they will come on at the stock set temp. Remember I also wired in the SOGI mod to turn them on anytime.

Ric- Yes I ahd the same problem & thats why I wired them as described in my 1st post.
