ij knows more about that then me. he says yes. so that means yes you have to be worried. the fire was very short and burned pretty cold. mostly everything, plastic or rubber was destroyed. even the copper wires in the harness were good. i have had no indication of any weakening. even at 6000 rpms in 5th witht the 18s everything felt as stiff as my old supra. so i am fairly sure im good. i am going take some measurements to see if anything been distorted.

If the aluminum on the engine isn't melted I dont think it got that hot to mess up the steel in the chassis.

The Hi strength Steel used in car bodies anneals around 700c (this is why you're NOT meant to use oxy welding gear as the heat affected zone is so large)

Doesn't take a huge fire to generate 700c :nono:

Personal preference I'd NEVER reuse a burnt shell but that's just me.

No but I'm moving forward on the swap slowly but surely. It would have been a matter of a coupke weeks if the built 7m sold but its still for sale. So slowly my paychecks exit my bank account and slowly the motor gets colser to being ready be to put in. I'm waiting on a ffim I'm making, a head gasket, and the turbo manifold. I can't wait wnaylonger:(. Just kidding I drove the car on my dealer plate last weekend. Maybe the last time with the 7M ;)

Thanks!

I'm NOT say bad things WILL happen just that it's NOT a chance I'd take but I'm guessing my usage will be quite different to yours (I drive fast and very hard on horrible roads)

I also manage to break a lot of indestuctable parts so won't take a chance on anything that's not 100%.

I'm gonna buy jeff langes rotating assembly and a new head. So basicly the only thing lft from the leaxas 2j is block casting ;)

I would stick with a GE head though, it will be easier to use your harness, unless you want to source a jz-GTE harness and we can wire that in, using either a 1jz head or a 2jz-gte head.
