Filled 89+ exterior trim?

Has anyone filled their exterior trim?

Not the body panels but the plastic trim pieces that go around the car. I was thinking of removing the small rubber strips and filling them.

That's not what he was asking, and he even explained that. He is looking for the rubber piece on the moulding removed, not the moulding entirely. Heh.

I've seen it done, looks great, can't remember where I saw it and I don't have any pictures. Oh... zooloo did it.

That actually looks very good!!! Wasn't some of the trim flat without the rubber piece at the bottom from 86.5-88?

I'm looking at the pic's and I don't get it. What's different besides the fact that the moldings are painted.

No, not really, pre-89 trim isn't that flat.

You'll want to use flexible filler, something like Evercoat Poly-Flex:

I think I'm going to go the same route. The body moldings on the car right now are missing the strip at the bottom so that seems like the way to go.

Ok so we are talking about filling gap between the top strip of the molding and the black strip it sits on and then painting it? Seems like a ton of work for not much result.

I think that it dramatically improves the look of the trim. Makes the supra flow just that much better. But, to each their own.

I was thinking of it, but my center piece is entirely hard plastic, there's no rubber on it....
