Alright, i got my 'new' switches in the mail a week or so back. I installed them and worked great short of the fact my 88faceplate won't work on the driver side now. After a week or so the passenger window button (on the driver side switch) works only 25% of the time when puttuing the window down. It works a lot more often going up. My original switch had this same problem but opposite, worked down but not up. After having this swithc only a week is this a coincidence or could something else maybe be somehow frying my switches?

I was having the same issues, I took out the drivers side switch box, opened it up and cleaned the little metal contacts that are under the switch.
While I was at it I did the auto up mod. My windows work great now.

Edit: Is it a brand new switch or used one?

If you're going to be opening up the window switch, please take you're time and don't lose any parts.

I had to learn this the hard way :(

Yeah, it is a pita but its worth it...

I have to agree. Pulled the switch apart in driveway. Almost had to order a new switch. My contacts were burnt and I cleaned, sanded, and relubed an it has worked like a charm since. About 6 months now.

Sounds like the motor is dying.

my driver side just started exibiting the signs.....my passenger side works perfect.....for now............IOW not the motor

Is it possible a not properly grounded relay/fuse could be burning the switches out??
