Need help! 87 7MGTE, my exhaust manifold bolts keep getting loose. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so what was the cause and what is the fix. This is being a pain in the rear, as I have to keep tightening them every couple of weeks.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim:
It can be caused by several things.

The first that you need to check is that you are not stripping the studs out of the aluminum head.

Second, if you're running a stock manifold, make sure the exhaust isn't shaking around (properly supported) and that the manifold itself has at least one stock support on it.

I haven't been running any of the stock manifold supports for the past few years. The trick for me was brand new studs, torqued in properly with some loctite. Haven't had any problems with exhaust leaks or the nuts backing out.
