Engine Stand

Im in the market for buying an engine stand and i was wondering if this stand was good enough to support our motors.

Its rated for 1000lbs but our motors are long so idk if it will be good enough?

I had that stand it held a h22 ok I had no problems with it other than spinning it

Buy it from Harbor.

BE VERY CAREFUL Rotating the motor. Go very slow and stand on the back legs or you'll be sorry!

That's the one I did my rebuild on. I had one like the OP's. I would trust it for a small inline 4 maybe. Get the bigger one, you won't regret it.

kragen for 70 bucks. its had nothing but supra engines on it, wide post, big casters. you would have to seriously shove it to tip it over with a engine on it.

I had one of the smaller ones and hated it, then I got one of the 2000lb stands for like $90 and it makes a ton of difference when working on the motor. I don't have to worry about spinning the motor either its a pretty simple task. My conclusion on engine stands is divide its rated capacity by two and that is the maximum you should be working with. With a fully dressed stock twin 2j the 1k stand was leaning pretty far forward.

I have two of the harbor freight 1000 pounders and have have had a 302 v8 on them and had two complete 7m's on them.

They are a little hard to rotate; but, you kind of want resistance there. You don't want that thing swinging over fast.

The HF 1000 pounder will be fine.

thanks for the responses guys. i was gonna go with the one zumtizzle recommended but its $35 just to ship it, so i just went with the one from hf....hopefully its good.

Im using the harbor freight one right now. It looks identical to my roomates $90+ checker stand. As long as you get the one with 4 wheels, youre good.

Using the 1 kip Harbor Frieght stand as well. It supports an assembled 7M just fine but be sure to mount it as close to the center of mass as possible or it will be a pain to rotate.

I have a brand new, in box, never opened harbor freight stand, as listed in your link, that I purchases earlier this year and don't need...want to buy it from me for a little cheaper?

I have a 7m sitting on harbor freight's 750lb stand in the garage right now. These are fine.
