I'm new to tuning fuel and had some Q's about running an emanage blue.

1) First question, about hardware, from what I gather you cant just use a usb male to usb male and you actually have to purchase Greddy's "special" support tool? Plus a serial to usb adapter if your laptop is not equipped.

2) Is the map sensor necessary to tuning? This is running on a 1jz, but I don't know how this map sensor plays into the tuning? I doubt it would turn the maps into like 3 dimensions based on RPM, TPS, and MAP, but what does it actually affect? I am using a ZT2 for all my datalogging, so if it for those purposes, i could do without.

3) Now for tuning on the unit, I haven't got it to connect with the laptop yet so I havent experimented with the 16x16 airflow/map map. Is this to fine tune the adjustments on the knobs on the unit? So is there general rules like you use the knobs on the unit for pulling fuel? injector duty cycle for adding? Will adding fuel via altering map signal cause fuel cut sooner and pulling fuel via map signal cause it later or potentially not at all?

4) Can you explain to me which functions will work in open loop and which in closed? I was under the impression all changes occurred only in open loop, but altering the map signal obviously was changing my AFRs at idle bringing them from 12.7ish to 14.7ish.

Thanks for any advice. I'm sure I'll have even more questions for you guys very soon.

Best to tune it with a laptop.

The map sensor is for when you pass fuel cut. It allows you to add fuel with the additional injection harness (but you can do without it.)

It's pretty neat.

I'm not sure about on a 1jz, but mine runs the car after 14psi, because the afm signal is clamped to get rid of fuel cut at that point.

Yea I just read about a clone cable (usb to usb) made for the emanage i can use.

By clamped, what do you mean? I just assume if you pull fuel it tells the ECU there is less airflow and if you add there is more airflow (well MAP for me). Which would mean pulling fuel would raise FC and adding would lower FC, because of what the ECU is recieving.

I'll be installing the inj harness, as soon as titan sends it. They didnt tell me it was on B/O. So do you just use the inj duty cycle to pull and add fuel and not touch the dials on the EMB. I really need to hook it to the laptop and become more familiar with the software I'll be using.

I hate to direct you to SF, but there is a sticky over there with all the install information. I am not sure if your tuning questions are anwered there though.

Yea. Install is mostly taken care of. I was looking for hardware, software and tuning info mainly. I guess I'll take this over there. :icon_conf
