they are all about the same... pretty nice quality but hang down too low, and not full 3"

save up for a full 3" from the turbo, not the elbow, or get one custom made.

What do you mean? Cooleez full 3" dp's and Titan full 3" dp's are on ebay, both of which eliminate the stock elbow.

why not just get the muffler shop to weld one up, full 3" and have them put a flex section so when you run over bumps you dont beef your exhaust studs or turbo or whatever's in line to get beefed.

well look at the advantiges vs the disadvantiges most are nock offs of greddy/other tuner company but not a full 3" but if you keep the stock elbow there isn't goin to be much difference between a full 3 and a (2.5 to 3)
and then theres price one is cheap one isn't so you pick

Yeah, the ebay ones have a bottle neck in them right from where they bolt up to the turbo elbow util after the flex section, THEN they are 3". It completely defeats the purpose. Save youself some time and money and wait until you can afford a full 3" DP. ;)

If the budget is tight, they are a more than acceptable option. I picked one up a year or so ago while I debated how I wanted to build the car. I knew I was just going to have to sell any DP as soon as I changed the turbo, and figured it would make a good stop gap until I got to that point. The quality was good. Yes, it is built off the old HKS design which does hang a little too low, yes it does have the small flex section. But people keep forgetting that we used to make good numbers off those "outdated" pipes too. If you don't have monster power numbers in mind, these are a budget conscious choice for anyone with a stock CT26.

I picked up one of the cheap ebay dp's and got a steal on a LIPP elbow and a test pipe, combined cost of about $190 delivered. Sure there's a bit of a bottle neck but compared to stock this thing sings.

Going from a stock elbow to a 3" will not really net you anymore peak power it will just reduce spool time. There was a websit that I can't seem to find anymore where the guy did a dyno run for every mod he did. He gained about 4hp but lost about 20lb/ft of torque when he swaped out his stock elbow but his power band dropped down about 300 rpm.

I bought an ebay $80 Meagan DP.......2.5 inlet/3.0 outlet. It did just fine for my low power goals. That car is now crashed, and I'm back to pure stock. I know now more than ever that it definitely helped. Did it get me 100RWHP??? I doubt it, but i liked it anyway.

IMO if you're gonna do it, may as well do it right. I can't see spending the money on a downpipe twice to get a good one.

Sorry, that's just me. If I'm gonna buy a downpipe, I'm gonna buy the best that I can. If i can only afford an eBay downpipe, then i won't buy one.
After all, what's the real point here? Just having it? To put in your mod list?
The only notable exception I can think of would be the $100 two piece elbow/dp combo that was on eBay that you had to modify the bolt holes for it to fit correctly. That was just a good deal.

I certainly don't want to start a flamewar over this, so I want to ask right now in case one erupts, for a mod to delete my and all following posts pertaining to it.

I used mine in conjunction with a JDUB ported elbow, a Cooleze test pipe, and 3" Exhaust Depot Catback bought from Titan. None of this stuff was top namebrand, but useful as a group, and all together cost less than $500. I do plan to go BIC DDP with my white car that currently all stock. I may dyno it before and after to get a real idea what it does for me. I may even take the low buget set up, and bolt it up to see the difference.
