I'm very excited for many reasons....
#1 I've spent a shitload of money getting this car running solid and hope to see the fruits of my labor (and credit card balances!)
#2 I've owned this car for 12 years and this is the first time I've put a lot of performance products in it.
#3 It came so close to going to a junkyard I don't know how many times (everytime an engine blew when I was a poor college student)
#4 for the past 5 years it just sat and did nothing
#5 I'm curious what will break on the damn thing... going from bone stock to a 350-400hp setup
#5 I've never dyno'd my car, ever!

So here are the mods.....

- Freshly rebuilt stock motor/head, stock internals, new bearrings and oil pump witt HKS 1.2mm MHG, APR U/C Studs

- Turbo Concepts 61mm Turbo T3 footprint on stock manifold (modified flange adapter with external wastegate port)

- Apexi Intake fed through custom 4" intake pipe to turbo, 3" full exhaust, custom downpipe, full 3" with boost-activated cut out just after downpipe to alleviate back pressure.

- Greddy RS BOV, Tial 40mm Wastegate

- Big 24x4x12" intercooler with full custom 2.5" AL hardpipes

- Wallbro 255 with RC 550 injectors

- MAFTPRO with speed density and boost controller, AEM wideband.

The weak spots:

- A340E bone stock JDM tranny (with B&M 8x11x1.5 oil cooler)
- Fairly rusted out rear subframe
- Questionable Rear Diff

So I guess we'll see what happens.... full list of mods and maintenence is here:
http://born2drv.com/repair_log.html

Car is being worked on at a shop right now (they're installing new engine harness and MAFTPRO) and should have it running saturday or monday, so I'll have some numbers up soon!!

Anyone care to guess what I'll hit? We're going to go conservative on the tune because I don't feel like replacing the tranny for at least another 6 months or so!

I'm probably going to get a IPT fully built tranny, unless there's a reasonably priced TH350/400 with overdrive setup so I can drive on the highway at 80+mph and still get good fuel economy.

You can't get O/D on the THM350 or 400, but you can use a 200R4. That was used in the Grand National and seems to be farily stout. The 700R4 was shitty.

I don't know that 200 will even fit, it would be fabrication galore, just like the THM350/400.

In my best guess, the IPT should hold most MA70 goals.

I'd go with a built a340e. They can be built to handle a whole helluva lot of hp. I think the final stage build for an a340e (which is horrribly expensive) they maching the parts for a gm tranny (350 or 400 or something) and fit them into the toyota housing.

I sold my old tranny to a guy who sent it out to marko to have it built. It's pretty nice looking, but he doesn't have it in the car yet

Ya I think the $2800 or whatever it is for the IPT tranny is well worth the money.... if it can handle 400hp without too many problems which from what I'm told it can, that's well enough for me. It seems 7M's tend to blow up somewhere in the 450-600hp range anyways unless built very very well, and I don't want to run my engine that close to failure all the time.

i say if your tranny is in goo shape, it'll put down 350-400 on the dyno,

and i say you would out of their with a conservative tune of 3-325...

good luck, wish i could get my car dynoed any time soon..
