Have any of you guys ever noticed your drivers seat reclining on it's own?

I've owned two MKIII's and both have done this. It's never really noticable like its falling back as if it is broken or anything. I'm not high on anything and I am the only person who ever drives my car, but I NEVER actually role the seat back, but I'd say that I physically have to move the seatback forward once ever couple weeks to get it back to where I had it. I was thinking maybe it somehow falls back a bit when the seat is pushed forward to access the back seat, but to be completly honest I soo rarely ever use the driver's seat to do this....so I am at a bit of a quandary as to what causes this.

My current car has just clicked over 70K original miles, my previous car I got with 100K miles and owned it until 136K miles and I only weigh 165 pounds.

What do you guys think? Are you guys experiencing the same?

If you have power seats, you may be accidentally hitting the lever from time to time. Not much, just enough to move the seat without you knowing...

Yeah, it's common. My driver's seat does it... dunno about the passenger seat. The seat is positioned by a worm gear. Vibration gradually allows the gear to move in which ever direction it's free to. Since you sit against it it's not going to move forward. ;)

While we're talking about seats malfunctioning......

Two of the Sup's I've driven had a bad reclining mechanism. It would only allow you to put the seat in one or two positions, both VERY reclined.

Is this another common seat issue? Anyone else run into this?

Well, you're not alone (this has been discussed before, it's common) AND it's a definite possibility. :naughty:

??? I don't think i quite understand. If they didn't have the power back adjustment then they have a knob you turn to adjust the wheel. I suspect you were pulling the release which is used to recline the seat back or bring it all the way forward so you can access the rear seats. Meet up with me sometime and I'll show you.

I've seen this in new cars. It happens, gets worse with age. Once a week (which is where I'm at as well) isn't bad.

Yeah pretty much all the manual recline seats do it. It used to happen in both my 87 and my 88. I think the gear holding them in place wears out and slips when you get in and out.
