Downpipe question...........

can someone explain to me what a "Divorced" downpipe is? Must mean its seperated from something normally attached to it is the only assumption I can think of....Enlighten the Amigo!

This is a ddp or to be specific a recirculated ddp. The point of it is to seperate the main exhaust flow from the exhaust flow comming out of the wastegate of our turbo; which has a built in waste gate. The result of that is less turbulence in the exhaust and better flow, resulting in more boost sooner.

The true 'divorced' DP is made so that the wastegate pipe just opens to the atmosphere, and does not rejoin the exaust flow, as the one above.
The result is a very loud 'woosh' when the wastegate opens on acceleration. I have a seperated DP as shown above and like it that way, but many people do prefer the
big-ass sound of the wastegate opening.
