Well I do know that for my evo I went with the Tial 38mm wastegate and got 575whp out of it and seems to be holding very well. The only time I have seen the necessity for the 44mm is when I see turbos bigger than the gt35r size and wanting power in the excess of 700whp.

I have the gt35 as well, but I have the HKS 44mm wastegate and it holds perfectly.

Oh nice. Why did you go so big? Was it because you ar going to go with a bigger turbo eventually or you just wanted that one? :icon_razz

Hey I really like your car btw. Its awesome!

Smaller wastegates will allow you to keep higher pressures easier whereas a larger wastegate will be able to regulate lower boost pressure easier.

so what your saying is that if i go with like a 67 trim pushing 15-18 psi that i would want a bigger wastegate, or the other way around. i thought the hole thing about a wastegate was to get the gasses out as fast as you can.

higher psi = smaller wastegate
lower psi = bigger wastegate

why? because say on a gt35r... you only want 7psi, that means when your going WOT you have to have all of those gases trying to spool the turbo go out the wastegate instead, now if you were pushing 25psi, you have WAYYYYY more of the gases going to the turbo to keep it spooled at 25psi. So thats why you want a bigger wastegate on a smaller psi.
