Been looking for a 2wd Yota truck for quite a while so that I can sell my 4-Runner and Escort and have 1 vehicle that I can haul stuff in and gets decent gas mileage.

Unfortunately they're impossible to find down here because everything under $2k goes to Mexico. Ran across this today for $300 and picked it up:

Quite a bit rougher than I wanted, but I should be able to have a nice little truck after some TLC and ~$1500 by my estimation. Runs and drives surprisingly and has a/c (critical in TX), but it's got RK and sounds much like my Supra when I bought it:biglaugh:

First step is a $400 short block from JIS engine then I'll start working on cosmetics... Thinking some 4x4 fenders and a 4x4 bed (if I can find one), new chrome, and a cheap paint job.

Sucks that it's auto. :( Otherwise, it'll treat you well! I <3 my '94 4x4!

Yea, might do a manual swap at some point. Auto works fine though, and I can sip my coffee easily on the way to work :)

My '87 4-Runner has treated me well over the past 13 years, but I'm tired of maintaining 3 cars and a motorcycle and it'll be nice to have a truck now that I've got a house to fix up!

Picked up some complete SR5 doors at lunch for $75, cheaper than buying the mirrors and interior parts I needed lol. Might try to figure out how to wire up the power windows and locks in 'em since everything is working. Project keeps growing...

Cool! :) I've been thinking about using my spare Supra lock solenoids to put power locks in my Pickup!

I'm tempted and was even thinking about finding another 2jzge, but the main purpose of buying it was to have something cheap that gets decent gas mileage so I've resisted so far :)

I've got a '95 that I love to death, only has 105k on it now and beautiful paint :)

I picked mine up for $1100 with a bhg when I worked at the local 'yota dealership. Mine's an auto as well, which doesn't bother me. I almost bought a VVTi 1uz the other day but the deal fell through. I'll eventually drop a V8 in it so I can get better gas mileage :)

Did a little investigating tonight, drained the oil and found some small shavings, definitely needs at least a crank kit. Good news is the compression is solid 160-165-170-165 and the head and timing chain look like they've been replaced recently.

There's also a leak at the front of the motor somewhere, the 'ol oil on top of the water pump deal. Can't remember what that means, time for some searchin! Also jumped the a/c clutch and the compressor sounds ok and there's still some pressure in the system. It's been converted to 134a so I might throw a can at it and see what happens.

Next step is to drop the pan (wohoo for no 4wd crap in the way!) and check the bottom end out. Tranny pan is leaking too so I'll go ahead and do a filter and fluid replacement and reseal that.

Few pics, last one is funny and scary all at the same time. Steering was really loose when I drove it around the block, there's no cotter pin and the castle nut is backed almost all the way off!

Just got the deal of the century! Went and looked at the bed and 22re and struck up a deal with the guy--$200 for the motor with accessories, sensors etc., bed, 2 w56s (one pops out of first), a transfer case, wiring harness, bumper, pretty much the whole bed is full of parts and he hauled the old bed off for me.

Pics:

The motor has pretty low compression, it's been sitting for about 5yrs, so I'm thinking I might pull the crank out of it and put it in the other motor since the compression looks good on it... Time to sell some parts and raise some fundage!
