DiRT demo

Anyone playing the DiRT demo? I downloaded it a couple of hours ago and have been playing it off and on. The steering system is pissing me off to no end, but I keep messing with it and it keeps getting better and now this game is starting to grow on me.


This is when I first started using a controller over the keyboard... I was fighting the damn steering system for the whole half a mile I was able to go and this is the end result:

And this is the buggy track... this one is a LOT of fun... unless you happen to hit one of the 10,000 rocks and barricades that line the track... then this happens:

I got the newsletter for it, and downloaded it. Right now I'm encoding video though so it'll be a little while until the game PC is ready.

What kind of video card are you running? Those screen shots look pretty good.

GeForce 7600 GS ... I think sometime this summer it might be time for a new card though

I got it on 360. Its not bad but the steering just doesnt feel right. I'm saving my money for Forza 2.

^Yeah, the steering system is beyond me. I finally got it to a point where turning was manageable, but trying to get the damn thing to go straight was an endless bout of corrective steering that ended with me flipping. Then I got it to finally drive straight down the track but then it couldn't turn for shit...

And any changes from any of those two points just makes the steering even worse. I'm starting to hate this game again, haha

Okay, so, the steering is disasterous. I basically just spent 30 minutes going back and forth trying to figure out how to make it manageable in the evo. Finally I got it working pretty well (I can keep it relatively straight) but it still is WAY too responsive, there is no way in hell even a rally car on gravel can perform like that.

Another wierd thing I'm running into is a mysterious slow down, often in or exiting turns. If its not some sort of weird "cool" feature in the game I think its time to get a Core 2 Duo; because while I can run no problem graphically in Ultra mode... my Pentium D I don't think is cutting it any more, LOL.

I'll get some screen shots some time later today.

I have flipped the buggy several times... have yet to demolish the WRX quite like that though.

^Yeah I haven't run into any slow down issues and I'm rockin the E6400.

But I hear you on the steering... the car either turns half an hour after you want it to... or it's like as soon as you put your thumb over a direction the car is already headed that way

Well, Ive got the steering down, no more problems for me on that front.

Took this right after the car snap over steered into some pylons. (driver speak for ran out of talent )

Heh, its funny, the buggy is probably my least fav out of the 3.
