Ive finally gotten around to installing a freshly built 61-1 CT26 that i purchased from Canada about 12 months ago

Initial startup i hit the key a few times to prime the oil , although when started it was very noisy like the bearing wasnt oiled this went away after a few minutes , although the car blew alot of smoke for the first few minutes of driving ? I gather it took a bit to soften/oil up the seal.

Ive let the vehicle cool down again for several hours and the Turbo is noisy again on startup and seems to get better after a few minutes when the oil / turbo gets warm ??

Is this normal ?

doesnt sound good to me! remember if the compressor is hiting the cover its filling your engine with bits of metal!

and why the hell did you get it from canada and not local? it would of had to be so cheap to be worth the shiping it is likely dead!

I dont think this is any blades hitting the housing , Its fine when its gets warm ?

I have checked the intake piping and no signs of metal shavings , The turbo has a slight up and down movement but NO in and out movement

Sounds like it was a cheap rebuild, using the cheap rebuild kit, and wasn't
balanced. Sorry dude. 99% of all turbos die within the first 5 min of install.
Send it to Jon at MDC, and have him put a BB setup in there. It'll solve all
those problems, and make it last longer to boot. I know you're nowhere near
us in the states, but I'll try and get you a discount if you're interested.

email me if interested. (or do the group buy)

Nope, I can have them rebuilt, with a QUALITY rebuild kit, and new bearings
and everything. As long as the fins aren't bent, and it doesn't grind against
the inside of the housing badly, we're good .

There isn't a conventional seal as such Det, it's a combination of a piston ring seal and a labyrinth seal so nothing to soften up.

Most times if a Turbo is noisy it's out of balance as Jeff has indicated.
