Alright. Well, I really wanted to keep this a secret, but I am already very sketched about this already so I figured I'd try to regain some sanity by posting this now, and getting peoples opinions on my route from Washington state to Florida.

Yes, I am driving my mk2 home. I am flying to Washington on 4/21, leaving on 4/28....

I have driven 1500 miles with my ex from Florida to Massachusetts and back, but... this is a whole other ballgame. 4,000 miles is very intimidating for me.

I have mapped out a basic route, that I would like some opinions on, to make sure I have the right idea on wtf I am doing.

I am not interested in driving through California at all, I'd rather not be pulled over for my modified exhaust or tinted tail lights, LOL.

But I am also worried about trying to cross the mountains in NorCal. Anyone ever do this at this time of year?

I should have a hatchful of spare parts and fluids. I'll be going through the car before I leave to make sure it is trip worthy.

Any and all advice, opinions welcomed. If anyone lives by the route I posted and wants to give me their # in case I break down, that would be great and much appreciated!

hey Tanya the wheather is very good in all of California right now. Just a lil cold. Other than that if theres no rain which thats like a 30-60 chance than you should be good.

Yay! If you break down anywhere on I75 in Florida, call me - 352-745-8074 :)

That said, I live in Alachua - YOU WILL BE LESS THAN 1 MILE FROM MY HOUSE!

Exit 399 on I75. I DEMAND you stop in :D We'll take you out to eat :)

FWIW - I'm planning on doing something similar this summer - Road trip in the 1988 to Wyoming ;)

Say "Hi!" when you're in Portland...I would also suggest maybe cutting over a little sooner than K-Falls,Oregon...Thats notoriously bad.. I'd either take Hwy 20 and take 97 straight down or go down to McCloud,CA...I always take McCloud,CA to cut over the passes to Reno,NV

What Doward fails to mention is that he mostly ignores his phone, unless it's a text message, and he almost NEVER checks his voice mail.

So - if you need our help (or just want to let us know you're heading over! :) ) MY number is 352-258-9226. No job + no life = always home.

Arghhhhhhh!! IAN!

:icon_evil

Had no idea you'd want to come to the US. We're having a huge mk2 meet in WA> 30+ cars, BBQ, fun run, etc. And then of course 4,000 miles to South Florida.

I wanted to keep it a secret....but damn
