I'm a Firefighter/EMT and our ambulance has a Panasonic Toughbook in it. It has internet and a GPS program and both work great. The problem is the Toughbook itself. When it gets booted up the "Panasonic" screen comes on(with the "press F2 for set-up" or whatever) and then the screen goes blank, like its in hibernate. We've tired pressing all the buttons, unplugging it still nothing. Anyways, the County didn't put the computer in the Ambulance so they won't fix it and the Volunteer Co. is a PITA to deal with. any ideas?

Can you hear the HDD spinning up?
or
BIOS may be corrupted or in need of a reset.
The CMOS battery is either located under the keyboard or through the bottom.

If you press F2 can you get into the bios?

Download an Ubuntu install CD off the 'net and boot off that. You can boot to Linux without installing anything, it all loads from the CD. If it works, there's something wrong with the windows install. If it doesn't, there's something wrong with the hardware.
