Code 52 and ?'s

So just finished the swap and got it back from the shop who did the wiring and cleanup. The issue is it ran for about 15 miles then relatively smoothly. It would chop up getting into boost, but i figured it was just getting it running right after all this time. It then proceeded to go into a limp mode where I cand rev out past 2k and even then its not a constant rev but a spike every few seconds. We read the codes and found it to be code 52 (knock sensor). The mechanic thinks it may be due to the stock fuel pump not getting it enough fuel and making it cut out which throws a code and puts i into the limp mode. I though I would ask around here because this is his first 1j swap. Any thoughs?

The mechanic said replace the fuel pump to see if the massive fuel cut is due to that and is then tripping the sensor. IF not ill bring it back to him to figure out because Im retarde with wiring issues. That sound like a legitimate thought?

How much was this kit, and is it still available? Were you having the same problems as Im saying.

Ill have to have the wiring checked as well then too.

BTW would running a 2JZ ignitor or Map sensor make a difference? Neither came in the swapped car and were replaced with those. Any pics of what the knock sensor location and wiring looked like on anyones swap so i could campare to those as well?

Yes, I was having the same symptoms...and the kit cost me 60 shipped from Shaeff. Just PM him for the kit. I got it in like 4 days. Easy install btw, took me like 30 minutes and no more code 52.

the 2J ignitor is the exact same as the 1J, i just let a local MKIV guy borrow mine for a test, and the 2J map sensor works as well, im running it on my car

So does anyone have a pic off hand of the wiring fix or just how the wiring should be to the knock sensor components. If not could you take one, im really in need of figuring this out before the winter.

And what comes in the wiring fix for the knock sensor. Just directions or materials and is it easy to do even as an amatuer with wiring?

i need to clear some things up in here first.

code 52 (knock sensor circuit) is an ELECTRICAL problem. you could smash the side of your block with a 5lb sledge, run lean until you pop your motor, etc... and you'll never see code 52 so long as the KS circuit is intact and working properly.
