Im also getting a code 51 on the diagnostic...

I hear what sounds like a click on and a click off when i turn the car on before starting it. (sounds like the double click comes from the passenger side of the engine bay near the firewall)

I am currently clearing the codes from the ecu... maybe ill get a different code(s)...

Hi, this sucks man, well have you checked the wire giong to the coil to the distributor, and checked that you have spark going to the distributor? Check Your timing on the distributor. Make sure that you have all of the plug wires in the correct port on the disributor and plugs. pull all of your plugs and burn them off with a propane torch or something to burn the fuel off of the plugs, as they may be fouled up with fuel. If this is not of any help please tell us what you have done at this point so that we may better help you out.

I dont mean to be an ass but why is it that people ask for help, and say "well I think it's this, what do you think?" then they dont try it. Start from the basics and use the tsrm. It's the first thing you should turn to. Then after you have tried them, explain what you tried, and if it didnt work as something. Otherwise people do not even really answer you because of your laziness.

Like above, make sure spark plugs are not fouled with gas. Test the wires and make sure they are sparking. If you think it's a ground issue please try it, and if it doesnt work report back here, we aren't psychic buddy.

Do you have the 3 ground wires connected to the intake manifold, they are sometimes connected to the started by mistake and it will not start without them.

-Checked the fuses a while ago...

-Three grounds are connected to the intake manifold...

-All my plug wires are connected properly to the distributor...

Thanks again for all your help guys.

When you put it back in, did you line up all the timing marks? crank, cam gears, #1 piston on TDC, and the rotor pointing at the #1 wire? That would get it close enough to start. Then you have to time it with a light and the jumper wire as per TSRM. Have you set your TPS according to the manual?

Also check the AFM to make sure it's plugged in.

This should have been done first, after your engine was assembled. What is your compression on all 6 WOT? If you are low on compression you may not have enough squish to make a bang. When you crank the enging is there any notion to fire? Pull plug #1 and plug it back to wire ground it to the engine lift hook next your alternator. Dont touch the plug or the insulator of the plug just the boot of the wire. Have someone crank on the engine while the plug is sparking feal if air is shooting out of the spark plug hole. if not your out of pahse. Hope this helps. I completely rechecked the timing and found a major problem...
My guess is the last person to change the timing belt made a mark on the opposite end of the cam gears. So when I was setting time after the rebuild i saw their mark and thought that it was the mark for TDC on the cams... So the timing was 180 degrees off.

I fixed the timing and discovered i had a plug with a cracked outside...
So i replaced it with a new one. (same exact model number)

I re timed the distributor and also reconfigured the TPS, so now i have no more codes :)...

I tried to start it again and a couple cylinders fired but then it never got enough to start...

I tried again and all i get it cranking and no firing... :(

Im stuck again...

Start from scratch again bud.

just make shure that you do not follow any marks that anyone else may have inscribed on the crank pully or the cam pullys. You do not need to take the o-ring off the distributor unless the o-ring is toast.

Okay...

I'm very imbarassed to admit to this, but apparently I cant read...

I finally got it running after realizing I was turning the crank Clockwise instead of counter clockwise during the dizzy timing setup...

Oh well...
Lesson learned!

Thanks again for all your help guys!!! :)

Isn't it great that the 7M is not an interference engine;)

So its running all good now? If so, Good work. Persistance pays off:)
