cannot press down the clutch :(

so one fine evening I pressed down the clutch pedal and it wouldnt come back up again. I moved it by hand and what do you know...the clutch pedal never went down again...

two months later (I bought a 1jz-r154 soarer in the mean time due to my frustration with constant problems with my mkiii)

I replaced both master and slave cylinders, while i started to bleed the lines, the clutch pedal became stiff and I can no longer press it down...

so I've eliminated the cylinders as the problems...

what else could it be?

If in fact the hydraulic part of the system is working as you have said I would do the following.

1) Remove inspection cover on slave master side of bell housing.

2)With a helper applying pressure on clutch pedal , watch to see if the slave piston engages the clutch fork.

3) If it does engage the fork, watch the throwout bearing and see if it is indeed moving.

4) I would bet your problem is the pressure plate, or as Poodles said, snap ring on the throwout bearing.

hmm so how much does a r154 weight? where do i support it with my floor jack if i need to lower it?

it's easy to do.The only problem i have when removing the tranny is getting the upper bolts from the bell housing of the block. you can support the tranny from the center just use common sense. just make sure you have a buddy thats there to help you. Not to many because the job turns in to talking then going inside the house and chillin then the day is over and all your beer is gone and your car is still down......

I bought a transmission jack from harbor freight as it's cheaper than any injury I may get...

This will be the hardest part of the job, I lost prolly like a week when swaping in the 2jz from friends coming over and we just wouldn't do shit:biglaugh:. Trans. can easily be lifted by yourself, only weighs in around 80-90 lbs i would say.

R154 (bare unit- no bell housing oil or shifter) weights 99 lbs according to the supra weight index

add 23 for the clutch, 5 lbs for Inspection Cover, bolts, fork, ext. and what ever the bell housing weights.

So looking at a total around 130 lbs.
