I am installing a remote oil filter and cooler, and I bought a permacool oil thermostat. But looking at it, it just doesn't seem to me that it will do much of anything.
What I mean is, when the t-stat is cold and "closed" the valve inside should block oil from circulating through the cooler, so that it warms up faster. Well when you look into it (at room temperature) you can see that the valve is nowhere near blocking off the cooler. I know they will allow some flow through the cooler to pre warm the oil and to avoid air pockets but this just doesnt seem right.
What am I missing here?
Thanks
Ryan
