i posted this on a local site, so excuse some of the local citys and what not. Also, "macs" is a similar store to 711, incase anyone doesnt know.

most nights on my way home from work, i stop at the macs down the street from my house, for a snack while i surf the net for countless hours. In the past few months, ive noticed a few "street people" hanging around, asking for spare change. Now, this is getting out of hand, i went there tonight, and i shit you not 14 of them, hanging around outside macs. It wasnt even a scene out of a movie, ive never seen anything like this in my entire life, and ive lived in surrey since i was 3. Im now 21, and i frequent the surrey streets late at night atleast 6 times a week. I was discusted to say the least. Please no comments like "its surrey what do you excpect" im tired of hearing that. I actually heard delta is starting a new campain about its crime with the slogan "Delta, we have got less crime than Surrey" What a joke, all that makes me want to do is go commit crimes in delta. Anyone eles experiancing this amount of druggies at a 711, or macs? maybe in vancouver, on the east side??

That must have been a sight. 14 bums. holy crap. The store owner should be pissed. did you actually go in there?

I haven't even seen that many at once in toronto. After a night of clubbing or going to bars downtown on the way home traffic get kind of backed up. They wait in the middle of the road at lights to get change from every car that stops. It happens almost every time we go down.

yeah we have street peddlers. They stand at an intersection with cardboard signs that say stuff like "Starving, anything helps. God bless." So, one day I drove by, and this guy was standing there with a sign that said "Hungry, need food, a little goes a long way" So I got into my lunch and took out a sandwich I hadn't eaten. I went to hand it to him, and he said "I don't want a fucking Sandwich, I want money!". So I threw a penny at him.

lol i would have done the same thing bums like that don't deserve help. My dad tried to help out a bum once by bringing him some clothes. The guy came at him and threatened to kill him. Call me an ass or whatever but ill never go out of my way to help anyone like that in my lifetime

Wow that would make me so mad. I mean... I would have thoughts of finding that SOB and beating the snot out of him. He would have to drink through a straw when I was finished. But that really goes to show exactly why these guys are bums. There's a reason.

I've heard a lot of stories about bums holding cars for randsom. "Pay me or I'll scratch hit" or something like that. The sad part is, some of them actually want to go to jail.

Sounds like most of the stories here arent people who are homeless guys. These guys are professional. We had a guy in Nashville, that did it professional for about 5 years, cops finnally put a stop to it. He said he made about 80-100k a year doing this. he quit his job so he could beg.

Thats why I stopped giving money, I used to think it was for the good, its not.

There was a story here in Portland a while back where a news crew actually followed a "bum" for a little while. He was very dirty, long beard, the typical look. After about 4 hours, he got up, walked across the street, behind a building, waited for a little while until he thought no one was watching. He unlocked his new car, got in and drove away. I forget what he was actually driving, but it was a $40,000 car.

There was a big story about it because the IRS was getting involved. They actually wanted to tax the bums income. The news story reported that some of these people were making $60k to $120k a year.

Then they had a guy who used to pan-handle, tell the reporter he could get about $500 a day in a good spot.

Wow, that's crazy. I've never given money to bums and I don't plan to. Food maybe, but it doesn't seem that's what they really want...

What part of Portland are you in cadman? I'm in the Beaverton area this summer until I go back to school mid-September.
