brake light sensor question

ok... since i had 89+ wing installed. Since the stock brake light was no longer needed i had the guy who "TRIED" to install the wing remove the brake light. So anyway how do i turn off that annoying light? Is there a way around it? without having to reinstall the 3rd light back ... it looks so good w/out it.. just the wing with just the nice led brake light...

any suggestions from the experts of SM???

You mean he removed the CHMSL and now you get a light out indication on the dash? If so you'll need to open up the sensor and change the calibration resistor. Or just bypass the box completely and be done with it. Lots of people do. I paid for it so I won't.

He removed the light... unplugged it only. left everything he is affraid of me that he would not 'cut' anything off my supra...lol...

can someone give me a diagram on how to do it change the calibration resistor or bypassing the box....???

i bought a new sensor thinking that was my problem... and installed it... so i have an extra one... i guess i can change the calibration resistor on that one.. and put it back...

If you don't mind not having that stupid little dash light, just bypass the box... I recently did this, and it was pretty easy. Brake lights still work, too! lol

^^^Haha, CRE who?

Pretty busy on my end as well. I posted a thread on the matter I'll see if I can dig it up. BUT, I've only got boards for one model of the Lamp Failure Module, I've seen three variations. If you open it up and it doesn't match the pics in my post take a couple detailed photos of the front and back for me and I'll let you know how to calibrate it for the new wing. There will be a little experimentation involved, but it's nothing painful... usually. ;)

Here you go: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46770&highlight=failure+module

EDIT: R1 is the brake light calibration. Either experiment with other values (It may need a 22KΩ resistor, but I'm just guessing.) or solder in a potentiometer (variable resistor rated for 50KΩ @ 1/2W) and slowly increase the resistance until the outage indicator stops tripping. If it stops tripping right away then turn the resistance all the way up and slowly work your way down until it does trip, then adjust the potentiometer back a little. This way the failure module will still function and let you know if a brake light goes out. ;)
