ive already read though the entire wall of shame but thank you! just what I was looking for

The Wall of Shame isn't in the search index (we don't want the trash from there polluting people's search results), so you've got to just browse thorugh it. There are some real trainwrecks in there.

I have browsed through it when I found it about 3months ago. Ended up reading every thread on there and regularly check for new ones. Real life idiocies are so funny :)

There was one that I think has been lost by now in one of the hacks... I'd love to have a copy of it. I don't recall the names of the parties involved, but I do recall the cliffs version.

Seller posts up some parts for sale, buyer find some minor, inexpensive bit in the list that he wants, and sends payment. Usual bullshit ensues, excuse follows excuse and the parts keep not getting shipped. Finally, buyer gets annoyed enough to deal with it. Unknown to the seller, the buyer works for an airline, so he gets to fly for free. Buyer finds address for seller, hops on plane, lands on other side of the country, rents car, drives to address to confront seller. Address turns out to be a military base. Buyer explains situation to guards at the entrance. Guards call base CO. CO comes to speak to buyer, gets all the details, confirms that seller is a soldier on the base under his command. Base CO is, shall we say, less than pleased. Calls MPs, has them fetch seller. Base CO confronts seller about his lackluster performance, and how it has negatively impacted the honor of the military. MPs escort seller to vehicle, wait for part to be removed, then escort seller back to buyer. Seller is required to apologize. Buyer takes part, thanks base CO and MPs for their help, drives back to airport, and flies home. Cost of part that caused the entire dispute? About $25, IIRC.

This was years ago... more than a decade, IIRC. I would be not in the least surprised if the seller is still cleaning toilets with his toothbrush.

I think so, but it's been a long time. Could have been on SF, could have been on the old PacNW Supras mailing list, too...

I think we had a thread on it here, but that was on the old phpBB code. That database is long gone (probably). There could be a copy of that dB (post hack) archived somewhere on my network at the house. I'll dig around this weekend.
