I bought a used g-tech and the 1/4 mile times seem accurate but the RWHP seems way off on my unit. I'll probably sell it and just stick with the dyno and race track. Although it would be handy to see if small mods at home are making a real difference or not...

And that is what it is used for. You don't compare it's hp/tq results a dyno as you don't compare a Mustang dyno to a Dynojet... Use it to see the gains in mods, or go pay to dyno, go make mods, go pay to dyno again, but be sure it is the same kind of dyno.

but if its off then it wouldnt be that accurate in changing mods, your best bet is to use the g-force readout and when u accelerate look for the highest amount of g-force u can make, thne do ur mods and do it again.

since the hosepower and 1/4 mile times are inconsistent it could be calibrated slightly wrong, slight dip or tilt in the road, all those tihngs throw it off. i just depend on the old fashond butt dyno to tell if anything is an improvement or not.

From what I've read on the product site, it uses 2 axis sensors to make calculations, and takes like 200 measurements/calcuations a second. I think it would be more a accurate readout of horsepower since it takes into consideration the added weight of a driver when making the calculations.

It would be interesting to see test comparisons between what the unit measures versus say what a dyno measures to see just how accurate it is.

or if the road dips or tilts. also dont forget the launch when the car tips back, it tilts it back and adds g-force to it from gravity upping the horsepower reading or lowering the 1/4 mile time. i used mine in my friends mustang GT 2003 and it said 300 horsepower and it was all stock. next time i go to the track im gona make my run with the g-tech on and see how it compares.

You can pay dyno time every time you make a modification to see what gains you may have made or you can use your own accelerometer every time you make any modification and get an idea of your gains. It's just another tool.
