BAD DAY! MY 1JZ MKIII was stolen and wrecked today!

Wow, today has been bad. Well at least the start.
I woke up and was heading to work. I stayed at my girlfriend's house last night. I parked right in front of the door pretty close to a street lamp. Well, i am putting on my shoes and i look out the front door window and i didn't see my car. So i thought, i must have parked it further up. Then I go closer to the window. I still don't see it. Then i go outside with one shoe on my foot. MY BABY WAS GONE!!!

I am like WTF! This is in a decently nice neighborhood of Spokane. I wake up my girl and then i call 911. They tell me that i have to wait and a patrol man will be by. I call my family and then just start waiting. After about 45 minutes i call the police back. They let me know that my case had been transferred to State Patrol. This is not a good sign. My Lady lives in Spokane City.

So I call and they let me know that my car was at the impound lot. It had been picked up. They also told me that an officer will be calling me soon and that i should just go to work. Thanks! It would have been nice to know that 45 minutes ago. I get to work and my co-worker Tyler's father works for the county impound lot. So he called them.

My baby had been involved in a High Speed Chase. The cops found the guy speeding. So my supra at one point was going over 100 on the highway. Later it was going over 50MPH in REVERSE! I didn't know this was even possible. I don't think i have ever gone over 25. A Cop was nose to nose with my supra going 50. Insane! Absolutely horrible!
Also the guy launched it at one point over something. This is when the report said the vehicle started smoking.

So my baby has been destroyed. The rear tires are flat the engine is blown and the front end probably has some serious frame damage.

To make matters worse, this A**hole was a burglar on top of a car thief. He had picked up my supra probably about 12 am. The chase was at 7am. So during that whole time he was breaking into houses and cars. My car is stuck in impound because they are waiting for a judge to grant a search warrant because my car is full of stolen property.

Damn! This day just did not start off well. Damn Full Moons! Yes, last night supposedly was a full moon.

Here is a shot that my co worker's dad was able to get me from inside the impound lot.

Oh yeah! The Best Part! They Caught the Dirt Bag!!! He is behind bars!

At the end of the chase, he drove to his home in Airway Heights just outside of Spokane. He ran into his house and jumped into the shower. He then said to the officer that he had no idea what was going on. What a dumb ass!
The whole chase was captured on the video recorder. I sure would like to get a copy of that footage.

So yeah, it is funny because just last night i had spent time talking with my buddy mike about swapping the 3.73 rear diff with a 3.90. That is not going to happen now.

My build page is in my signature below.

Update 5/19/11: Since originally written, my insurance company has told me that i need to look for a new car. So i believe they are totaling it. I plan to buy it back and probably salvage what i can.
My father also has friends with the police, so he was able to get the name and number for the arresting officer. He also got the name of the guy. I am going to write a letter to the prosecutor to help with the investigation talking about how much this car meant to me.

I'm fixing to dump a good bit of money in my car. And that is my worst fear.
Yeah, I have poured 6 years of dreaming 1 year of building and 3 years of enjoyment into this car. She was my baby. I don't know what i am going to do without my supra. I NEVER EXPECTED THIS! I don't drive a corolla or a Camry or a Honda. Usually those are the targets. I have been driving Supras for 10 years straight. Anything else is just not right. I bought a jeep last winter. It is a really nice 2000 Grand Cherokee with low miles. I drove it for one month. The second the snow was mostly gone, i reinstated my supra. The Jeep has been sitting in front of my house since January. Hasn't moved an inch. I just pulled the battery out of the jeep so i could get it charged up. I have the feeling I am going to have to drive the jeep until I find a new supra.

My goal was to go one more year before I buy a MKIV. I might need to push my plan up a bit. I was wanting to save up about 12k so I could buy a house before I buy a new Supra. I am not sure if I am going to have a choice now.

What a bummer. :/
Are you sure the engine is blown? Maybe they just cracked the radiator or something... (just trying to give you some bit of hope.)
Best of luck with everything man.

Wow!! Sorry to hear that!! People are scumbags!! Atleast you weren't held up for the car. Last week a friend was sitting on the front steps with his gf in front of her apartment. He had just rode his motorcycle over and parked it in front. A guy walked over and demanded his keys to the bike. He said No. The guy pulled out his gun and shot him 3 times!! In the head and the chest! The guy ran off without the bike. Friend died in the hospital not even an hour later. They haven't caught the scumbag yet. Get a good alarm system and a club. Saved my cars from getting stolen numerous times!! Also good thing your car was only putting out 300. A. They might not have caught him or it wouldve been totalled completely cause he couldn't handle it the power.Look at the bright side. Your alive! Time to rebuild. Good luck!! Keep us posted.

Man, that sucks, the audacity of some people..

When my 89 was stolen, they parked it around the corner, probably because it kept stalling on them (atomspheric BOV), so they came back for the 86.5, and when I found it nearly a month later, it had a parking structure stub on it, so they were doing something, dont know but once we found them cops just said take them, no impound lot to deal with.

Kill switches are a must, in conjunction with a stupidly loud alarm, but remember you CAN program those alarms that have those same 6 sounds, and personalize them. For example you can have the siren, then the wooooooooooo wooooooo eeehhh ehh ehh ehhh sounds eliminated and have just 3, that way if you hear an alarm and it doesnt match yours, you don't have to worry, as lets face it folks, most of us ignore car alarms when we hear them...

Somehow he had a key. THat is what i think atleast. There was no forced entry as far as I know. I believe he just jumped in and then pushed the car probably a block before he turned it on. Otherwise i would have heard it. The car sat about 15-20 feet from the bedroom window.
Factory alarm.

Well, the dirt bag will probably get out on bail.
Personally, I would follow his case, and the minute he walks (like so many of these low-lifes do), I would.......
(sorry, next line was deleted because it would really violate his 'human' rights)

I feel for you dude, but try to look at the bright side, the damage from its pic does not look too extensive. Smoking can mean a number of things just wiat to see what it is. Atleast you weren't mugged for your car. Try to find some humor in it... he knew to take the only beast on the street =D but in all seriousness atleast you found it ASAP, my buddies car was stolen stripped and burnt to a crisp.

Far as I'm concerned, thieves don't have rights. In Arizona as well as here in Wyoming, if a man steals a horse that belongs to you, you can *legally* hang them for it, still to this day. If only this law extended to cars...

Sorry to hear that man, never feels good to hear this even when it's not your car. :(

stealing is stealing isn't it? Doesn't matter what it is, if its your property and they take it doesnt that apply?? Or only to live stock?
