backfiring flames and smoke in intake

hello everyone. I swapped in a JDM 7mge into my car, I am running on Turbo electronics (AFM, CPS, coilpack, igniter....) I am not running a turbo yet. My problem I am sure is in Timing.. I am getting spark, and fuel, no codes are being thrown. when I crank the motor it will sometimes "backfire" out the intake side, like its pre detonating, or is timed 180 out... I set cam tick marks to the top center marks, set the crank to 0, lined up the CPS, and still no go. so I maybe thought it is 180 out,I placed a pencil in cyl #1, than I look down the oil filler hole, and verify I see the cam lobe sticking up, I then turn the crank counter clockwise 120 deg. and back about 30. the crank ends at 0, and the pencil is up at its highest, I then place the CPS back just like Shaeffs post shows how to intall the CPS, and it still shoots flames and smoke from the intake... any ideas? would bad ground on coilpack cause this?

you're probably just a tooth off, just turn it a tooth one way or the other and see if it starts right up, if it doesn't go the other way but if it doesn't start right up after going one tooth either way then i'd look for a diff problem

not sure (as I still have a coilpack cover and not really in the mood to be taking my car apart right now)

also, make sure the plug wires are going to the proper coils...

I have searched and searched more until I have exhausted the wealth of info on this forum.. everyone that had the same issue as me, has not logged on to SF in like over 1 year so I cant see if or how they fixed there problem. Does anyone out there have a clue what would make my car blow flames from the throttle body? my plugs are wet with fuel too :( i have checked my timing like 15 times (3 days of about 4 hours each day)
