i have finished my 1jz a340e from a soarer swap into my 1988 supra, formerly 7mge with a340e. The car is very fast and fun to drive but im having one problem, the transmission wont shift into overdrive. Does anyone know what causes this? Did i forget to wire up a certain speed sensor during my swap? I have heard the ecu wont shift the transmission into overdrive until the engine is fully warmed up, and it is going at least a certain speed. What connections could i have forgetten?
any help is appreciated
thanks
mike

Hello,

I have a little question since i have an auto and planing to swap.
Soarer 1J are rear sump or mid?
I have been looking for infos about these sump things but didn't found.

I know front sump won't fit the A70 but does a rear sump will fit?

thank you

There are only two types of sumps, Rear/mid and front sump, rear/mid is what you want if your droping it into a supra. Soarer 1jz's and jza70 motors come with Rear/mid sump, chaser 1jzs are front sump.

I think IJ hit the nail on the head, I was having a issue with it taking an extremely long time to shift into OD b/c I had relocated my stock temp sensor to the radiator, so it took longer to see the correct temp reading to finally shift into OD. Really annoying on the highway.

As far as the speedo being the problem I just fixed my speedo, and having it inoperative never did effect the cars shifting. As a matter of fact since fixing it, the OD light has started flashing, but I can't get it to give me a code. Me thinks it's one of the speed sensors, but I'm not sure.

i have an autometer electronic speedometer im installing this weekend.
got my 3" exhaust today, this car is so much fun to drive!

i have noticed another weird thing, no matter what gear the shifter is in(L,2,D) it will shift through the gears up to 3rd gear. Is this what normally happens if there is a fault code? This seems weird! In other weirdness, it did shift into overdrive once today, but only when the car was really warmed up good.
