UPDATE/EDIT: This thread will act as a build thread for me to keep progress of my engine swap. Bit of a noob here, I often have questions.

Could anyone help me identify some components and hoses?
I also have alot of questions regarding installation..

What exactly is this mechanism?
IMG_20140701_130453422.jpg

Is this the 90 pipe/hose that everyone talks about replacing?
IMG_20140701_130628732.jpg

What are these guys?
IMG_20140701_132113866.jpg

What is the torque spec for these mount bolts?
IMG_20140701_133811722.jpg

Thanks, will have alot of questions as I swap in this 7MGTE.
Do I need to apply lube to every part as I install it? for example the turbo mounting bolts, do I need to lube it up or can I just mount it on?

1. Power steering Pump. & power steering pressure hose
2. Yes there are two 90 degree hoses on the 7mgte. replace both.
3. post 89 motor mounts
4. Unknown to me. i just tighten them down tight. haven't had a problem. bolt your motor mounts to those brackets.

Yes & No. I've never lubed the turbo mounting bolts & its been fine. have to be specific on what your working on. Follow the TSRM & most of your questions will be answered

I know I'm in a little over my head, I'm sorry,
but I'm determined to work it out.

I have looked at the TSRM upside down and sideways, I still can't find a section that shows how to assemble the engine PAST the long block stages. (all the pulleys, motors, fans, starter, hose junctions, etc!)

I figured out a little bit today on my own, but I have limited resources.
I don't have a clue what hoses I'm going to have to purchase.. It's hard to keep track of every little connection.

1. I want to pull out my 7MGE+W58, but I can't figure out how to remove/spin the propeller shaft?
2. After pulling the old 7M.. how do I get the W58 off? Drop the engine on a tire and unbolt the tranny? Unbolt it while it is hanging on the hoist? What is the easiest way?
3. When should I think about attaching the wire harness?
4. At what stage should I drop the new engine into my supra?

After checking over all my parts, I am short a few nuts and bolts. I had to reuse the bolts from my 7MGE for the new intake manifold.

The turbo bolts on with 4 nuts, which are 14mm and the same as the nuts holding the turbo/elbow pipe together. (see picture below)

I need at least 5 more of these suckers. There are none at the local stores, maybe a nut&bolt specialist..

1. cooling fan/fan clutch? you need 10 blade fan for a GTE engine
2. set it on the floor. unbolt & pull apart. never do it while its on the hoist.
3. install the intake plenum, then install the harness. then the upper intake manifold.
4.once you have the turbo, harness, intake manifold, timing belt/cover, oil pan, transmission, valve covers installed

the engine will fit. But those are post 89 motor mount brackets. those motor mounts you showed earlier WILL NOT work on a 86.5. you'll need pre89 brackets and pre89 motor mounts. & you'll have to swap pre 89 sensors onto the post 89 engine.

Driftmotion sells those nuts..

I mean the shaft that pulls out of the transmission behind the gear box.
How do I remove the 4 bolts that surround the prop shaft?

Thank you DJT, found the nuts (and tons of good stuff) on driftmotion =)

If I understand your last post you are talking about the 4 bolts attach the prop shaft to the diff? or the 4 that attach the front shaft to the rear shaft? Either way there are a few ways to do this.
First way is to put the trans in neutral with the rear tires off the ground, you will be able to spin the prop shaft by hand to make it easier to get at all bolts. You will also need to wrenches preferably a good length so you can get enough torque on the bolts. Take one wrench and hold it on one side use the other wrench to loosen it, repeat for 1-4.
Second way if you only have one wrench is put the car in gear with the e brake on and loosen the bolts, when you need to move the prop shaft just put in neutral with brake off and spin.

Hope this helped

That's cool motorider, I'll be pulling mine this weekend too =)

BTW, what is this ?
Looks like a starter but bigger, I'm not really sure- on the topic of starters, will the starter in my 7mge work for my 7mgte swap? (86.5 MKIII)

Thanks alot!

Can any tell me if I should or shouldn't leave the prop shaft attached to the tranny when pulling the engine?

You can remove that AFM and sir box as the turbo motor uses a different housing. Also can remove the P/S res but save it for now. You may want it later. On the other side remove the ign coil as that isn't needed anymore and you can remove the cruise control unit as you will not be able to use it with a turbo motor.

Now is also time to inspect/repair/replace the P/S pressure hose, steering rack bushings and steering rack.
