Do ARP head studs work on a stock jz motor? I've read that the block and head require maching and a custom hg :icon_conf
Can someone clear this up for me asap.
I ordered 2j arp head studs for my 1j being told they are the same and they will work. I ordered them tonight and need to confirm they will or wont work so i can cancel the order if needed.
Also, do 2j exhaust studs fit on a 1j? Or where do i find new xhaust studs?

Thanks.

Next time, confirm BEFORE you buy... We have a saying in the business Im in: Measure twice, cut once...

make sense?

I've never messed with a 1J, so maybe someone will chime in...

You dont need a custom HG to use ARP head studs... I suppose you could remove and replace one bolt at a time... Ive never done it that way, but I suppose you could...

I asked around and everyone said arp studs will work. Then when i was looking at titan motorsports website i found this:

While the price for these headstuds might seem crazy, they can actually present a better value than the 1/2" stud package. In addition to having a higher clamp load rating than the 1/2" studs, the L19 units can be more cost effective than having to purchase the 1/2" studs + plus having your block machined + plus having your head machined + plus buying a custom headgasket. That's not to mention the down time you save by not having to send all of your stuff out to the machine shop - and we all know that time is money!

The L19 stock dimension head studs have approximately 21% higher clamp load rating than the standard ARP headstuds for the 2JZ and approximately 4% higher clamp load rating than even the mighty 1/2" headstuds.

Maybe im reading it wrong but is it not refering to the arp studs when it talks about machining? I've seen alot of people using arp studs and i doubt they all have machined the motor to make them fit. and why would arp make a stud for a jz motor that doesnt fit? I just wanted someone to reconfirm what ive already been told and put my mind at ease.

2j and 1j uses the same head studs and head gasket. you are fine. And you don't need the L19's unless you plan on some major power levels.
