Now I'm pissed. I go to start the car up this morning and the radiator coolant light comes on after a few weeks of all clear. I get out, pop the hood, and the reservoir bottle is nearly empty again!!! I had it topped off after the thermo gasket was put back on and once more for good measure, and now after two weeks it's doing it again! I checked the oil cap for paranoia's sake and don't see any milkshakes there, so now I'm taking no prisoners. :: angry ::

Is there a comprehensive list of ALL HOSES relevant to the coolant system for the 7M-GTE that I can reference so I can replace every one? For that matter, I want a list of EVERY BLEEPIN' OIL HOSE, WATER HOSE, ETC..., SO I CAN DO 'EM ALL. If there is also a size list, I can buy great lengths of hose and fasteners to cut to size as well, but I'm not going to take any chances anymore. Fortunately I've already addressed the main upper/lower hoses direct to the radiator and replaced them early on. I'm also including hardlines in this attack as well, so I'll need to know what suitable replacements to go with there.

Hey a similar situation happen to me a few years ago. But not saying that's your problem, but on the back of the engine there is a hose that can easily get bent. Mine was crack and caused the same problem, and its a b*tch trying to replace it. anyway good luck trying tryin to fix the problem.

Try this website, it help me alot.

I did pressure test the system. We found one other hose near the turbo that was leaking other than the top hose. We still went ahead and replaced the bottom hose as well for safety concerns tho.

How many times do I need to pressure test this system? (I guess the obvious answer is "Until it stops leaking...duh.").

Ok, I think I found my problem.

When I was installing my smoked side markers all around, I pulled up the mats I have in the floorboards to lay on the ground to protect my jeans. When I go to pull up the passenger side mat, a nice "sticky" sound commenced, and I took a closer look at the carpet. The carpet was wet around the upper and middle parts of the floorboard and there was white residue all around, and all giving out that nice, coppery, coolant smell. I had been running the car with the heater on that morning while I was working in the cargo area, so it looks like I've found my coolant problem (I hope! Will still do the pressure test over again to be sure...). Possible suspects are...

1: Stop Leak in the heater coil lines from the previous owner(s)...
2: Old or damaged coolant hose somewhere near the firewall...
3: VSV valve maybe???

Any other thoughts?

With these cars it's NEVER a good sign when they start vomiting coolant, I'd put a small plastic bottle on the overflow hose for a couple of days to see if it's an internal leak or if it's puking it out while you drive.

It "Should" blow some coolant into the recovery tank when the engine gets to operating temps then draw it back as the engine cools, if it has a faulty rad cap or the wrong type this can't happen, ditto on if you have a leak anywhere in the system as it can't pull a vacuum as the coolant contracts in the engine (good suspect is the heater core check if the carpets wet)

I'll try that trick with the bottle, but it's already wet on the passenger side floorbard carpeting with the white residue associated with dried coolant. How much is a replacement heater coil and does anyone have one used here that is tested throughout?
