If it was too low yes. Can be low enough that it blows hot and compressor comes on.

Also could be a bad compressor.

Hooking up a set of ac gauges will tell you everything.

Yea, because MVHC is that simple. It's why everyone knows how to do it...

I'm sure the Minnesota Valley Health Center is quite quite complex, but that still doesn't explain what is happening in my Supra.

Thx,

Thank you, wasn't sure whether it wound run that low or not. I'll throw a gauge on it when I get home.

If you have gauges with high and low pressure readings. Install gauges with car off. Chrck readings. Start car check reading and temp inside car.

JJ, how many useful posts do you even make anymore? To be honest, I'm not sure why you come on SM if you're just going to post sarcastically and expect everyone to know everything already. Forums should be used to help people with useful information, and every time I see you post, I just imagine you ridiculing those who dont already know. Searching doesnt always work, especially if youre one or two words off, or when 80% of the threads that show up just tell you to search anyways instead of directing you to the answer.

I have a similar problem. But i know there's a leak somewhere. But here's my real problem. i can start the car, let it reach operating temp. I can drive around for a while, but if i drive for a long time you can feel heat start coming in, from the vents? All of my x's complained about this by saying "Do you have the heater on? It feels like its blowing hot" & of course its 90 degrees outside so i don't have the heater on. I have very little knowledge about the a/c/heating system. So i don't know where to start to fix the problem. All i know is compressor, accumulator, condenser, condenser fan, & the CC. ::shrug::

If the engine gets too hot the a/c will shut off. Could be your problem as the stock temp gauge isnt so accurate.

Could be that little valve (VSV) under your intake that signals the coolant valve on your PS firewall that controls the flow of hot coolant to your heater core, or that valve itself is stuck open. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it works that way.

Hi DrDucttape.
I had a similar issue with my 89. It turned out to be the thermistor in the air box behind the the glove box. Two wires run to a thermistor that is inside the air box. Try attaching a resistor across the wires, or better yet get a electrician to do it. Apparently it is a common problem with older A/C models.

Heater valve vsv is bolted onto the valve. On the intake manifold there is fuel pressure up vsv and egr vsv. Nothing related to a/c

It'd blow even less if you had the valve.

Orion: You obviously have a high tolerance for laziness, failure to RTFM, lack of critical thinking, and outright stupidity. All of which, though always in great supply here, are of late off the chart. But don't worry, with age you'll lose it.
